A Safe Solution for Tarping Loads from the Ground
Ewan Enterprises is the creator of the Tarp Lift which allows drivers to tarp any load without climbing on the load, with less effort and little training. The owner of Ewan Enterprises, Carl Ewan, invented The Ewan Tarp Lift. He has been driving truck for the last 25 years as an owner operator and has spent many hours tarping loads of lumber, feed, steel and anything that has been deemed necessary to be covered. He experienced first hand the difficulty and dangerous task of tarping some products.

Industry has begun to address these dangers because of liability and concern for their associates in the transportation industry. Some companies have installed a fall protection system which is a suspended cable that the truck is driven under and the driver can be harnessed and attached to this cable while on top of the load. Done properly these systems have staircases and draw bridges so that a person can get on top of the loaded trailer. Having experienced these suspension systems, Carl still was not comfortable with the design. You are still on top of a loaded trailer, you still have the possibility of falling but now if the system is in good working order, you won’t hit the ground but you might hang around awhile. Without anyone there to spot the people who use these systems, you can’t be sure if they are being used properly and you run the risk of someone hanging in a harness for an extended period of time. This itself can be hazardous depending on time and weather conditions. Most truck drivers don’t like using the fall protection systems for various reasons. Some use them improperly and some not at all, making them inefficient, ineffective and dangerous.
- These experiences over the years were a major factor in the design and development of The Ewan Tarp Lift which offers:
-
- A safe, reliable and easy alternative for tarping loads from the ground.
- A much-needed utility in the industry.
- A reduction in a company’s liability.
- A more efficient way to tarp a truck load.
- An alternative that truck drivers will gladly use because of the safety factor, less physical labor and easy of use - all while staying on the ground to tarp their load.
