Stage your loaded semi-trailer under the Tarp Lift parallel to the lifting carriage over head (1a). For your back or rear tarp you should have the rear of your trailer even or slightly ahead of the rear of the lifting carriage (1b). When using it for the first time a driver will have to determine what works best for them.
Once you are satisfied with the position of the truck, you roll your tarp out fully on the ground next to and parallel to your truck. 2a, 2b, 2c.
Using the control pendant (3a), trolley the lifting carriage directly over the tarp (3b) by pressing the forward or reverse buttons. (3c)
Now that the lifting carriage is directly over the tarp lower the lifting cables (4a) by pressing the down button on the control pendant (3c) until there is about eight feet of cable on the ground, usually laying on top of the tarp (4b).
There are six lifting cables, one for each corner and one in the middle on both sides. 5a.
String each cable through a set of D-rings starting at the top D-ring (the one that will be at the top of the load) and through each D-ring in that row. There are six cables, one on each corner and two in the middle of each side, so you will do this six times. 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d.
At the end of each cable is a slotted lift pin which will be slid up and turned to lifting position. 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d.
Now you can lift the tarp by pressing the up button on the control pendant (see Step 3, #3a), but first make sure the tarp is clear of any obstacles. As the tarp lifts the sides of the tarp are folded like a window blind which makes an eight foot side drop tarp only one to two feet. 8a, 8b, 8c, 8d.
When the tarp is at a height above the loaded trailer you can then trolley the lifting carriage directly over the loaded trailer. 9a, 9b, 9c.
You can now lower the tarp onto the loaded trailer by pressing the down button on the control pendant (Step 3, #3c) as the tarp drapes over the load, the sides unfold to their full length. 10a, 10b, 10c.
Now that the tarp is on the load and there is no weight on the slotted lifting pins, you can turn and slide the lifting pins to their free position (11a), which is straight off the end of the pin. (photo coming [11b]).
Now you can press the up button on the control pendant (Step 3, #3c) and the lifting cables will pull out of the D-rings. 12a, 12b.
When the cables are all the way up you can then trolley the lifting carriage back to where you started. 13a. Complete the tie downs on the tarp before starting on the front tarp. 13b.
The front tarp is put on the same way as the back tarp, however, this time you will have to back up your truck (about 4-5 feet) so the front of your load is slightly behind the front of the lifting carriage. 14a.
After making sure of your new alignment of the front of the load and the front of the lifting carriage you will begin the process with the front tarp as in Step 2. 15a, 15b, 15c, 15d, 15e, 15f, 15g, 15h, 15i.
